BHTV board members recently voted 3-2 to dissolve BHTV, a non-profit corporation formed to oversee public access television, on the conditions that the city of Beverly Hills would indemnify present and past officers of any liability and would take over BHTV's assets, said BHTV President Victor Weiner.
The vote, however, may not have been legal, Weiner stressed, adding that he believes there will be litigation before BHTV is dissolved.
Weiner is against the dissolution of BHTV, he said. "I believe that the assets of BHTV and what BHTV does was part of the public trust," he said. "Its existence is to serve the people of Beverly Hills, not to serve the government," he said.
Weiner estimated BHTV's assets, including cameras, tape machines and other studio equipment, at $300,000.
